About Our Club
The Esquimalt Speed Skating Club was started in 1966 by its founder Jim Shields, at the Esquimalt Archie Browning Arena, in Victoria B.C and was the first of its kind on the West Coast. Esquimalt Speed Skating is a club that encourages people young and old to experience the fun and excitement of Speed Skating, an amazing Olympic Sport. Club members can participate in many competitions that are held on the mainland each year.
The club runs September to March each year. You can skate recreationally or competitively at any level or age. The uniqueness of our club is that we are a group that is multi-generational. We have skaters from the age of 5 years to 65 years of age and they all come out and support and learn from each other. We are also extremely proud to include Special Olympics athletes in our membership.
